Both private and public
schools are available in St. Croix. The shining
star of the public school educational system is
the St. Croix Educational Complex High School
and Vocational Facilities. Built in 1993, this
multimillion-dollar complex has a large air-conditioned
auditorium with a modern audio and illumination
system for artistic and musical performances.
The school is known for its band, which participates
in many major events and festivities on the island.
The school also features a modern track and field.
It offers a college preparatory curriculum while
its vocational division offers technical certificates
in various areas including nursing and automobile
repairs.
The
private schools on the island cater to all segments
of the population, both sectarian and non-sectarian.
St. Croix Country Day and The Good Hope School
offer strong college preparatory curriculums and
both schools have college placement rates higher
than 95 percent. The Catholic Archdiocese supports
three schools: St. Mary’s in Christiansted and
St. Patrick’s in Frederiksted and St. Joseph’s
Catholic Preparatory High School between the two
towns. Other private schools include the Free
Will Baptist, the Manor School and the Christian
Academy to name a few.
